Successful Edition of P2N

Last week, we hosted the From Pictures to Numbers 2025 course, bringing together experts from multiple universities and 30 highly motivated researchers from diverse fields. The course kicked off with a content-rich introduction to the fundamentals of image processing and analysis. Throughout several hands-on sessions, participants explored various open-source software tools to visualize, represent, and analyze image data. On the second day, the focus shifted to automation. Participants used tools tailored to specific applications, gaining practical experience they could immediately apply to their own research data. The final day offered a deep dive into deep learning. Participants worked with user-friendly plugins featuring pre-trained algorithms and got a first taste of using Python to train deep learning algorithms themselves. We wrapped up the week with a well-deserved drink at the closing reception — a perfect way to celebrate a successful event.
