Flanders BioImaging in full effect

On December 15th, 2025 ACAM organized the annual networking event of Flanders BioImaging. Around 100 researchers gathered at the Univeristy of Antwerp to get an overview of the progress made within Flanders BioImaging and to discuss the importance of research infrastructures in general.

The key take home message of the event:

Bio-imaging cores are crucial facilitators of high-impact research as they optimise the use of top-level infrastructure and ensure durable consolidation and growth of end-to-end imaging expertise.

Many thanks for the inspirational words from our vice-rector Maarten Weyn, FWO policy advisor Caroline Volckaert and EuroBioImaging director John Eriksson. Equally valuable were the testimonies from Marc Van Zandvoort on the Maastricht Node, Saskia Lippens on VIB technologies, Ingrid Barcena Roig on supercomputing and the vision on banking the brain from Kristel Sleegers and Pieter Moons. Special thanks to Sebastian Munck and Chiara Rossi for fuelling the decade-surpassing constructive dialogue between all consortium PIs Jelle Hendrix, Kevin Braeckmans, Sigrid Stroobants, Koen Van Laere, Stefaan Vandenberghe, Pieter Vanden Berghe, Tony Lahoutte and Winnok De Vos.
